US weather-related power outages have more than doubled since 2000.
We invest in the outdoors.
Catalytic capital to accelerate the adoption and deployment of clean energy and climate resilience solutions infrontline communities, so we can all adapt and thrive through accelerating climate impacts and the energy transition.
Situation
The world is becoming more volatile, and the need for resilience has never been greater.
Increase in California residential electricity rates over the past decade.
Of the largest wildfires in California's recorded history have occurred since 2017.
Annual US deaths from extreme heat, the deadliest weather-related hazard.
2026 saw the lowest snowpack on record across the American West.
Solution
Practical solutions already exist, and new innovations are emerging...
...but they still aren't reaching the people and places that need them most.
Our mission
We invest catalytic capital, and connect frontline communities with clean energy and climate resilience technologies...
...so real solutions get deployed faster and deliver impact more quickly.
Building a regenerative future.

accelerate solutions.
Our focus
We protect for today, adapt for tomorrow, & regenerate for the future.
Resilient Energy Systems
Build affordable, reliable and resilient energy systems, that lower costs and increase energy security, whilst withstanding extreme weather and grid disruption.
- Distributed energy, energy storage, microgrids & resilient grid infrastructure
- Backup power, virtual power plants, demand flexibility & energy efficiency
- Electrification e.g. of homes, buildings, transport, industry & communities
Adaptation & Disaster Resilience
Reduce physical risks, prevent further harm. Anticipate, withstand & recover from extreme weather, natural disasters & a changing climate.
- Wildfire and forest, extreme heat, drought, flood, storm & coastal resilience
- Weatherization & adaptive infrastructure, cooling, water & air-quality solutions
- Early-warning systems, hazard prepared- ness, climate intelligence & risk analytics
Regenerative Economics
Build productive local systems that generate economic value, restore natural ecosystems & strengthen local livelihoods for long-term prosperity.
- Circular economy, resource efficiency & reduced environmental footprints
- Outdoor innovation & adventure experiences that inspire action
- Regenerative ag, living soils, biodiversity restoration & environmental remediation
Investment approach
Who we support
Start-ups. Non-profits. Co-operatives. Community enterprises. Outdoor organisations. Projects.
Entities delivering practical clean energy solutions, strengthening community resilience, and reducing environmental impacts.
What we look for
Impact-driven. Demand-led. Durable businesses. Deployable. Place-based and/or Scalable.
Solutions that strengthen frontline communities, protect vulnerable ecosystems and support local economies.
Where we invest
Outdoor and rural, frontline and underserved communities.
US-based and initially California-focused. Think Pacific Crest Trail.
How we invest
We have the flexibility to match the right type of capital, to the right solution, at the right stage. We can invest:
Ownership capital
Flexible, founder-friendly equity.
Operations capital
Low-interest loans and revenue-based finance.
Deployment capital
Project finance to accelerate adoption.
Capital can be linked to impact, rewarding stronger community and environmental outcomes with more supportive financing.
How we work
We identify community needs, connect them with innovative and practical technologies, build partnerships, invest flexible capital, and recycle it into the next generation of solutions.
Why we're different
Designed for the work conventional capital can't do. A new model of investing. Focused on outcomes.
Innovative finance
The financial system doesn't work for resilience.
VC needs rapid growth, private equity needs large and predictable projects, debt needs stable cash flows, and traditional philanthropy is passive and episodic.
We design flexible and affordable financing around real needs, rather than the constraints of conventional financial products.
Our new model
Philanthropic capital is invested in return-generating solutions via fit-for-purpose financial tools.
Capital is recovered and reinvested into new solutions through an evergreen revolving fund structure that perpetually compounds impact.
Each dollar supports multiple investments, going further and lasting longer.
Deployment-focused
Most climate finance targets decarbonisation, essential for the future but slow to reduce the physical risks communities face today.
Climate impacts are accelerating, compounding and increasingly irreversible.
We deploy practical energy & resilience solutions now, helping frontline communities adapt today. We don't have time to wait.

Innovation, shaped
by the outdoors.
Meet the founder
Dr Charlotte Kirk
Charlotte founded CruxLine after spending over a decade building two parallel careers:
- Across climate technology, venture capital & industrial infrastructure
- In the outdoors through military service & elite endurance sport.
As Head of Technology at Fortescue, she led energy strategy for a $6.2 billion industrial electrification program & established the company's $100M CVC fund. She launched & scaled European operations for Clean Energy Ventures across almost $500M AUM, has executed more than $300M of energy investments, secured over €200M of public funding for first-of-a-kind infrastructure, & has a PhD in Chemistry from Oxford University, where she was an Academic Scholar engineering new battery materials & renewable fuels.
But she was also the first woman to pass selection into the British Army's infantry where she served for five years, & is a sponsored endurance athlete with The North Face, competing at World Championships across ultramarathons, Ironmans & cross-country skiing. She has led expeditions across >20 countries, including setting the Fastest Known Time on the 800 km Camino de Santiago & running the 4,500 km Pacific Crest Trail as 90 consecutive ultramarathons. She has also delivered clean energy, water & food projects across Malaysia, Uganda, Bolivia, Kenya & Indonesia.
Through these adventures she saw that many of the clean energy & climate resilience solutions she had spent her career developing, operating & investing in still weren't reaching the people & places that needed them most.
So she founded CruxLine to connect outdoor communities with practical technologies & invest catalytic capital to accelerate their deployment.
Why CruxLine?
On expeditions, the crux is the hardest part of any route.
A new line is a path pioneered for others to follow.
CruxLine invests the catalytic capital needed to get practical solutions over the crux of deployment, creating new models for future success.
Why the outdoors?
We all have a connection to the outdoors.
Whether on epic adventures, running local trails, walking the dog, or sharing a sunset with friends, the outdoors brings us together.
But spending time outside also means we see the accelerating impacts of a changing climate on the environments around us.
That gives the outdoor community a unique opportunity to lead, and to be a powerful catalyst for change.
The outdoors inspires action. And action isn't optional for the wild places we love or the people who depend on them.
